Naza EC Awarded Major Construction Project Linking Bagan Datuk With Perak Tengah And Manjung Districts

BAGAN DATUK, October 28, 2017 – A ground breaking ceremony was held today in Bagan Datuk, Perak to signify the start of a major construction project to integrate Bagan Datuk, Perak Tengah and Manjung districts across Sungai Perak and provide better connectivity for areas surrounding the river. The ceremony, which was graced by the presence of YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia accompanied by YAB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry bin Abd Kadir, Perak Menteri Besar, was also witnessed by Joint Group Executive Chairman of the Naza Group of Companies, Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin.

The Bagan Datuk Bridge Construction project, worth RM446.9 million was recently awarded by the Ministry of Public Works to Naza EC, the construction arm of Naza Group (Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd), in a project poised to integrate Daerah Bagan Datuk with Daerah Perak Tengah and Daerah Manjung across Sungai Perak. The improved connectivity will benefit as many as 70,300 residents residing in the area as the travel time is reduced from 1 hour to only 15 minutes between Bagan Datuk and Kampung Sejagop in Perak Tengah district, once the project is completed.

The scope of work for Naza EC in this project includes the construction of a single lane carriageway 1.5km main bridge (R5 standard) going across Sungai Perak, 8.7km single lane carriageway road leading to the bridge, road furniture, land acquisition, irrigation and sewerage systems and relocation utilities.

The project is expected to be completed in July 2020 and is predicted to accommodate up to 7,500 vehicles daily in year 2020 according to the Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA).
