Kuala Lumpur, 20 July 2011 - NAZA World today announced that it is the official automobile sponsor for the inaugural International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) World Cup 2011, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur this week. The announcement was made at a simple key handling ceremony at the Stadium Titiwangsa Kuala Lumpur, where the tournament will take place from the 21st to 24th July 2011.

The inaugural tournament will see 24 men's team and 12 women's team from 24 countries battle it out for a combined prize purse of USD 50,000. On top of that, the 2011 ISTAF World Cup will also determine which 12 men's team and which 8 women's team qualify for the ISTAF Super Series 2011/12.

As the official automobile sponsor, NAZA World presented 36 units of Chevrolet Captiva to be used by each of the participating team. NAZA World also presented 6 units of luxurious Mercedes Benz which will be used for the delegates and officials of the tournament.

The 36 units of Chevrolet Captiva are courtesy of NAZA Quest Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor for the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia. This announcement was made just a few days after the group announced that it is the automobile sponsor for the Chelsea Asia Tour 2011.

NAZA Group of Companies Joint Group Executive Chairman, Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin said, "NAZA is committed in developing and supporting sports initiatives, be it a famous sport like football or a humble but exciting game of Sepak Takraw."

"We are also glad that ISTAF had decided to host the inaugural tournament here in Malaysia, where the sport has its humble roots. As a national conglomerate, it is only right that we step in and support this sport which has been played here in Malaysia since the 15th century."

"The country had witnessed some amazing moments of international triumph when the sport first began to become popular. Now, it is time that we bring back the glory of the sport right where it all began. I urge Malaysians to come out in full force to support the Malaysian teams and the sport as well," he added.

Malaysia will be fielding teams in both the men's and women's category.
