KUALA LUMPUR, January 18 - Naza TTDI Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) awarded six participants of the jointly-organised "Bertam Master Plan & Creative Ideas Competition" at a special awards ceremony today.

The competition required participants to submit creative ideas and designs for the master plan of Naza TTDI's upcoming 834-acre township in Bertam, Penang.

The participant with the winning entry received a cash prize of RM100,000 while the second and third-placed participants won RM75,000 and RM50,000 respectively.

A total of 32 participants entered the competition, which began in August 2011, of which 25 contestants were shortlisted for the second stage of the competition. For the third and final stage, six finalists were chosen.

The three other participants who made up the top six finalists received Special Mention Awards.

Naza TTDI's Deputy Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director, SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin said the competition, which is the third such collaboration with PAM, aims to provide a platform for the architectural fraternity to showcase their expertise.

He added that Naza TTDI is committed to supporting and giving due recognition to local architect firms for their creative and innovative designs.

Naza TTDI had previously collaborated with PAM for respective master plan competitions for the former's land in Puchong and Shah Alam in 2010.

Among the judging criteria for the Bertam Master Plan & Creative Ideas Competition included innovativeness, environmental-friendly features, the ability to achieve the Green Building Index (GBI) rating, economical and resource efficiency, world-class qualities and consideration of traffic circulation while conforming to local planning standards and guidelines.

Also present at the awards ceremony were PAM President Ar Saifuddin Ahmad and Chief Executive Ar Paul Lai Chu.
